I brought up the subject of M.'s daughter talking to her therapist about her feelings towards her mother. She isn't going to do it. Yesterday she told me that she wrote a poem for her mother on Easter. It was filled with lots of nice things, which she says she didn't even mean. She thought that maybe if she sucked up and said some nice things, it might make things better for a minute. The problem was she couldn't get her mother to read it because she was busy at the moment. She tried to get her to take it and read it later. M. wouldn't listen to what the girl was saying, so at this point she doesn't even know that her daughter wrote something for her. After a couple attempts to get her mother's attention, she just gave up on the poem idea. I think she is on the long road to accepting the situation for what it is. It will take time and some days will be better than others. Ultimately that is the best that we can hope for sometimes, to figure out how to deal with our feelings on a situation that we cannot manage to fix.
Given that everyone in this house is either atheist or agnostic, we didn't have any sort of celebration for Easter. My little one did get a little bit of candy, some balloons, and a small stuffed bunny... so I guess that means I will be acknowledging this holiday from a commercialized rabbit standpoint. Maybe it can merely be a celebration of spring for us. M. says that her kids are too old for candy and stuffed animals, so she bought them each three cd's. She also got me a new DVD, Life as a House. I really enjoy watching movies on DVD, particularly the ones that have a bunch of special features on them too.

Woke up this morning with a little stinging in the back of my throat. I am dreading the possibility that I may be coming down with the horrid cold that M. just got over. I am trying to beat the bug before it gets the best of me. I took motrin, vitamin C, echinacea, and some benedryl... something in the mix seems to be helping a little. I was never the type to down a handful of pills, certainly not for a cold. Trying to keep up with my little Darlingfish though, I can't afford to get knocked down with a cold. If M. hadn't just been so sick, I would probably try the pills one or two at a time. That way I would know specifically which pills were making me feel better. This way though, I feel better faster.
