I've come to visit you from the far-off Orient.
Here I am a bridge builder from China,
How I wish to link up our two great lands!
Your widespread freeways have opened their arms,
To welcome me to visit you across the Ocean;
Thank you for your sweet smiles and kind eyes,
And those vivid green lawns and clean lanes...
Though our colors and cultures are so different,
For peace on earth we may share the same goal.
China and America are separated by big oceans,
May flowers of friendship shine evergreen!
I've come to promote friendship and understanding,
For that is a bridge leading to a world of peace.
San Francisco, how I enjoy your golden sunshine!
I'll cherish your fond memory deep in my mind.
